Celestial Villa Pledgdon (in Calvia)
Villa Pledgdon is situated on the outskirts of the historic town of Calvia that attracts thousands of visitors every year. Many of the buildings date back to the 17th century and there is a beautiful 13th century church called Sant Joan Baptista in the centre of the town that is open to visitors.
We have designed a simple route of just over 36 km, starting just 5 minutes from the villa in the centre of the town. On the whole the route is flat and easy although there are some parts that are a little more challenging.
The villa is an excellent starting point for cycling friendly routes. It’s central location in the south west of the island makes it an ideal base for exploring the many surrounding resorts, bays, and mountains. Santa Ponsa, Palma Nova, Puerto Portals, Peguera and Andratx are just a few of the larger resorts that can be easily reached. It is also within easy access of the Tramuntana mountain range, a Unesco World Heritage Site where there are many trails for mountain bikers.
Celestial Villa Margarita (Santa Ponsa)
Villa Margarita is situated in the peaceful and pretty residential area of Costa de la Calma between the popular beach resorts of Santa Ponsa and Peguera. From the villa there are stunning views to the magical mountain of Galatzo.
Our cycling route from the villa is approximately 82 km in length and is graded as ‘medium’ in difficulty. The route will lead you to one of the best known climbs in the area to the tiny village of Galilea. The views and tranquillity are the major features of this picturesque village. It is located 460m above sea level in the Tramuntana mountain range and the area is renowned for its rustic beauty and freely roaming mountain goats who wear bells! The roads are challenging with hairpin bends and dramatic slopes, but the views on the way make it well-worth the effort!
The route will also take you to the small pretty beach resort and fishing port village of Sant Elm where you can stop and enjoy a drink on the waters edge. There are also some excellent restaurants to choose from. Nearby it is also possible to visit the marine and nature reserve of Dragonera Island that is separated from the mainland by a small channel. The Island is 6 km long and gets its name Sa Dragonera from its shape, as it is said to be shaped like a dragon. The Island is open all year round to visitors.
Celestial Villa Beach House (Palma)
The Beach House is located in a fabulous sea front location close to the pretty fishing village of Portixol and it is a short bike ride to the capital city of Palma.
Our cycling route is around 141 km in length and is graded as ‘very difficult’ so it is ideally suited to more experienced cyclists. The route has been designed so that our guests can enjoy the incredible views and the best of Mallorca’s back roads.
The route will take you to the famous Puig de San Salvador that is also known as the Mountain of Our Lady of San Salvador in the area of Felanitx. The sanctuary dates back to 1348 and is situated at the top of the hill at 509 meters high, where there is also a pretty chapel located near the road. The chapel is dedicated to the legend of a shepherd finding an image of the Virgin Mary.
Felanitx is a rural town and municipality in the southeast region of the Island. Situated around 50 kilometres from the capital city of Palma, it is now the centre of Mallorca’s second largest wine region. The town is also known for growing capers, which are a very popular local ingredient in Mallorca. You will also find the imposing 16th century church of San Miguel in the town with its large sweeping staircase entrance.
